News for Conservative Texas Lobbyists: Texas, 47 States Obtain $30 Million Judgment
On October 10th 2013, the conclusion of a nationwide investigation into membership program providers Trilegiant, Webloyalty, and Affinion was announced. These companies provided various membership-only services to customers. They claimed to be able to help reduce travel costs, credit monitoring, and roadside assistance costs. Investigators claim the defendants utilized unlawful practices to earn and keep their customer’s business. It has been determined that the defendants must pay restitution and in the future provide concise and clear information about the terms of the memberships for customers who do voluntarily enroll. A total of $19 million dollars is being provided in restitution.
