Texas Conservative Lobbyist Issues
The Republican party is one of the two major political parties in U.S. national and state politics. Republicans share a bedrock set of beliefs on certain social and political issues.
The Texas Republican Party
The Republican Party of Texas is made up of millions of Republican voters across the state of Texas. The Republican Party of Texas’ Mission is as follows:
“To promote a conservative philosophy of government by promoting conservative principles; and by providing the infrastructure through which those who share our conservative principles can get involved in the political process, run for and be elected to public office, and govern according to our principles when elected.”
Texas Republican Lobbyist Economic Policies.
Texas Republicans tend to emphasize the role of the free market and individual freedom in the marketplace as the primary balancing factor and way to long-term economic health. They favor smaller federal government regulation and oversight in economic matters. Texas Republicans are generally not in favor of a federally run and mandated health care system, preferring to trust the free market to solve health care issues as it does with other businesses and issues.
Texas Republican Lobbyist on Separation of Powers.
Most Republicans in Texas favor a version of federalism, with limited federal government powers and more powers granted to state and local governments. This policy goes hand in hand with their general “laissez-faire” approach to government.
Texas Republican Lobbyist Environmental Policies.
Contrary to popular opinion, Republicans are not against environmental conservation issues. At issue is not the valuing of the environment but the best approach to care for it. As with other issues, Texas Republicans tend to favor local and state control over environmental issues, as well as seeking a balance between economic health and environmental concerns.
Texas Republican Lobbyist Social Policies.
Consistent with their general sense that the best government is that which governs least, it is no surprise that many Texas Republicans have their suspicions about federally run and mandated social programs. While many Republicans are in favor of some kind of safety net program for citizens who find themselves in need of assistance, they prefer to encourage and allow local and faith-based organizations take the primary role in these things.
